As Victoria faces increasingly dry conditions, it’s crucial for farmers to have access to the right support and resources. The Vic Hub team is dedicated to providing the latest innovations, practical tools and expert advice tailored to your agricultural needs.

In addition to our efforts, the Australian Government offers a range of national support measures to help manage through tough times: AGR116.1024 Australian Government drought and rural support social media tiles IG Dam

  • Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS): Access free, confidential financial counselling to help you navigate financial challenges. The RFCS can help with understanding your financial position, developing budgets and exploring options to improve your financial situation.
  • Farm Management Deposit (FMD) Scheme: If you have funds in your FMD account, now might be the time to draw down on these holdings to manage cash flow during tough times. This scheme allows you to set aside pre-tax income in good years and withdraw it in low-income years, providing a financial buffer.
  • Concessional loans via the Regional Investment Corporation (RIC): Consider applying for a concessional loan to help manage the impacts of drought. These loans offer lower interest rates and more flexible terms to support your business through difficult periods.
  • Farm Household Allowance (FHA): If you have experienced a significant financial hit, you may be eligible for the FHA. This allowance provides financial assistance to farming families in hardship, helping you cover basic living expenses while you get back on your feet.

These programs are always available because dry conditions don’t hit everybody in the same, or at the same time. If you need help you can access it now. For more information, visit the DAFF Drought, Disaster & Rural Support section.
