The Future Drought Fund (FDF) 2024–25 Annual Report has been released, highlighting national progress in strengthening drought resilience for Australian farmers and regional communities.

The report outlines how Future Drought Fund programs are supporting farmers, communities and industry to better prepare for drought and climate variability.

 

Key highlights from the 2024–25 report

 

The report showcases progress across a range of initiatives designed to support drought preparedness and climate resilience, including:

  • 42 additional regional drought resilience plans finalised, bringing the national total to 57
  • More than 59,000 people benefiting from leadership opportunities or locally led actions
  • Establishment of a First Nations Advisory Group
  • More than 67,000 farmers accessing training, with 36,600 users engaging with the My Climate View online tool
  • Development of the inaugural First Nations targeted grant, Strengthening Drought Resilience on Country
  • A new Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework to support program impact and continuous improvement.

The report provides insights into how Future Drought Fund programs are helping farmers and rural communities plan for and respond to drought and climate challenges.

Programs delivered through initiatives such as the Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs continue to play an important role in connecting research, innovation and practical action that supports resilient farming systems and communities.

The Victoria Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub works with partners across the state to strengthen drought preparedness by supporting research, knowledge sharing and on-ground adoption of practical solutions that build long-term drought resilience for Victorian farmers and regional communities.
