Building drought resilience through collaboration

Diverse expertise shapes new partnerships

More than 130 researchers, community leaders and industry stakeholders gathered at the Drought Resilience 2025 conference to share knowledge, build new partnerships and strengthen drought resilience in Victoria and beyond.

Attendees included researchers, government representatives, not‑for‑profit leaders, consultants and water managers, reflecting the diversity at the heart of the Victoria Drought Resilience Adoption & Innovation Hub’s collaborative approach.

Feedback from participants reinforced the value of bringing together academics, operators and regional communities to tackle drought challenges. Many highlighted the importance of co‑designed solutions — and the Vic Hub’s role in connecting research with real‑world needs.

A strong multidisciplinary focus was seen as a key highlight. The conference featured voices from across agriculture, environmental and climate science, economics, education, business, health and media. The event also marked the launch of DRI‑Net — a growing network now connecting 227 drought resilience researchers.

Drought Resilience 2025 was delivered by the Victoria Drought Resilience Adoption & Innovation Hub, supported by the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
