The Vic Hub’s North-East Node is hosting a field day on the role of EID technology for livestock traceability and biosecurity.

Garry Armstrong (Murray LLS) will speak on the topic, with Henry Hickson (Nextgen Agri) leading a session on:

  • Refining what data is relevant to collect, based on farmers’ breeding objectives
  • Maximising utilisation of EID tech from weigh scale indicators and handlers
  • Managing data in Excel
  • Interrogating data in excel to inform management decisions

Tru-Test, Gallagher, and Te Pari will provide demonstrations on the technologies available and how to configure equipment to maximise utilisation of data. A discussion session will follow for questions to be answered by the providers.

A farmer discussion panel will provide producers the opportunity to ask questions to, and hear from, farmers who are currently using the technology.

Following these sessions, Excel templates for collecting, manipulating and interrogating EID data, as well as a resource outlining how to download and upload data from different indicators and handlers will be available.
