As climates warm and become more variable, the frequency and severity of droughts and other climatic events are increasing. In this context, increasing the ability of economies, ecosystems and communities to become more resilient to droughts has never been more important. While traditional and novel approaches are being adopted to prepare for, predict, respond to and recover from droughts when they do occur, sharing insights and approaches across disciplines has the potential to result in innovative, high-quality research leading to practical and effective outcomes with real-world impact.

Hosted by the Victoria Drought Resilience Adoption & Innovation Hub at Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus in Geelong, Drought Resilience 2025 will also launch the Drought Resilience Interdisciplinary Network, DRI-Net, and will explore key broad interdisciplinary themes around drought resilience to encourage collaboration among research disciplines.

A call for papers for the conference is now open until 7 March 2025, and delegates may be invited to contribute a full paper towards a conference paper, special issue or book proposal.

More information about Drought Resilience 2025 is available on the conference website.

THE DROUGHT RESILIENCE INTERDISCIPLINARY NETWORK

The Drought Resilience Interdisciplinary Network, ‘DRI-Net’, brings together researchers across academic disciplines involved in all aspects of drought-resilience research. DRI-Net will foster innovative and collaborative research, while connecting academics with key stakeholders including landholders, community organisations, industry and government. DRI-Net researchers will receive regular updates about drought resilience research, funding and training opportunities and events through a shared communication platform disseminated via the Victoria Drought Resilience Adoption & Innovation Hub so that research outputs result in real on-the-ground impacts.

DRI-Net will be launched at Drought Resilience 2025 and DRI-Net members will have the opportunity to take part in special networking and career-development opportunities at the conference.

More information about DRI-Net and the opportunity to join the network will be available soon. To get updates about DRI-Net in the meantime, sign up to our DRI-Net mailing list.
